Make this Easy Community Helper Activity for Preschoolers while reading these Fun Books:
Step 1: Download and Print the Free Community Helper Craft Template
Download the Free Printable Community Helper Template. The PDF file contains everything you need to make eight different community helpers.

This PDF is much longer than my average craft. It has 22 pages including: the basic craft shape, hats (in color and black & white), accessories (in color and black & white, and labels.
Step 2: Cut Out the Community Helper Craft Shapes
Print the Free Community Helper Printable template. You will be stapling the craft pieces to colored paper and cutting out as many shapes as you need.

If you want to make this craft with a group of kids, you can staple the template to up to 10 sheets of copy paper, 5 sheets of cardstock or 5-8 sheets of construction paper.
So, did you know, you can staple together 10 pieces of copy paper and cut out 10 shapes at a time?! That’s my SECRET to fast & easy crafting.
Stapling the paper is very important because it makes sure it doesn’t move as you cut. The more staples the better. Cardstock is the thickest so you may only be able to cut 5 sheets at a time.
Tip: While you’re cutting, if you cut off all parts of the pages that have staples, make sure to re-staple the sheets that are left.

Whenever you’re cutting multiple sheets at a time, make sure they are always stapled together.
The basic craft pieces include the square “body”, face, hair, and eyes.
Step 3: Print and Cut out the Job Accessories
After you finish cutting out the craft shapes, you can choose if you want to print the job accessories in color or in black and white.
You or the children can cut out the hats & accessories that coordinate with the community help that you’re making.

You will also want to print and cut out the job labels.
Step 4: How to Assemble this Community Helper Craft
The children will just need to put it all together and make it their own.

- Glue the circle head onto the top of the craft base.
- Optional: Glue on hair – you can also leave your community helper bald.
- Glue the eyes onto the face. You can also draw on eyes or use googly eyes.
- Draw a smile on the face with a marker.
- add the hat of the Community Helper you’re making.
- It’s time to add the label or word describing your community helper.
- Finally, glue on or draw items to go with the job that your community helper does. Don’t forget to write you’re name on your craft.
