The Ant craft template PDF makes it easy to cut out the bug craft shapes.

Step 2: Cut Out the Ant Craft Shapes

Print the Free Ant Template. You will be stapling it to colored paper and cutting out as many shapes as you need.

stapling ant craft template to construction paper
print the ant craft template and staple it to multiple sheets of paper before cutting.

If you want to make this craft with a group of kids, you can staple the template to up to 10 sheets of copy paper, 5 sheets of cardstock or 5-8 sheets of construction paper.

So, did you know, you can staple together 10 pieces of copy paper and cut out 10 shapes at a time?! That’s my SECRET to fast & easy crafting.

Stapling the paper is very important because it makes sure it doesn’t move as you cut. The more staples the better. Cardstock is the thickest so you may only be able to cut 5 sheets at a time.

Tip: While you’re cutting, if you cut off all parts of the pages that have staples, make sure to re-staple the sheets that are left.

Main ant craft pieces – Head, body parts, antennae, legs (black paper strips). The eyes & mouth are not shown, but included in the downloadable template

Whenever you’re cutting multiple sheets at a time, make sure they are always stapled together!

Step 3: How to Assemble this Ant Paper Craft

The kids will just need to glue it all together and make it their own!

  1. Make the body of the ant. Glue the two black ovals together to make the abdomen and then glue on the circle head.
  2. Glue the eyes onto the head of the ant. If you don’t want to cut out eyes, you can always use googly eyes.
  3. Glue the red smile onto the ant’s face.
  4. Glue the antenna onto the head of the ant.
  5. Glue on the 6 legs. Did you know that all insects have 6 legs? Don’t forget to write your name on the back.
