- washable tempera paint in fun colors
- sponge paintbrush
- black marker (optional to sign name or add decoration)
- baby wipes (optional for cleanup)
Step #1: Get The Free Printable Handprint Craft PDF

Step #2: Paint your child’s little hands
Use the sponge brush to paint your child’s hand with paint. Remember to have some water or wipes nearby in case things get messy.

The best type of paper for handprint crafts is a piece of white cardstock paper. However, it’s not necessary. Copy paper will work too.
Make sure to lay the template on a flat surface and help your child press their hand onto the paper (card stock is best). Here’s the secret to getting a good handprint – Lift your child’s painted palm, straight up – this way fingers aren’t moving or sliding.
