- Free Football Father’s Day Printable <— Get your template here
- colored copy paper, colored cardstock, or construction paper
- glue sticks
Step 1: Download and Print the Free Template
Download and print the Free Football Father’s Day Printable. You will be stapling the template to sheets of colored paper to cut out the shapes. Print as many as you need if you’re making this craft in a group setting.
Tip: If you don’t have a printer you can always put white copy paper up to your computer screen and trace the template.
Step 2: Staple and Cut Out the Craft Shapes
Once you have the print out, cut and staple it to construction paper and cut out the shapes you need:
- brown paper for football
- yellow paper for goalpost
- white paper for football laces (laces are not included in the template as they are so simple. See Step 3 below for images of the football laces)
If you want to make this craft with a group of kids, you can staple the template to up to 10 sheets of copy and construction paper or 5 sheets of cardstock. Just make sure you have a pair of good scissors.
So, did you know, you can staple together 10 pieces of paper and cut out 10 shapes at a time?! That’s my SECRET to fast & easy crafting. Stapling the paper is very important because it makes sure it doesn’t move as you cut. The more staples the better. Cardstock is the thickest so you may only be able to cut 5 sheets at a time.
Tip: While you’re cutting, if you cut off all parts of the pages that have staples, make sure to re-staple the sheets that are left. Whenever you’re cutting multiple sheets at a time, make sure they are always stapled together!
Step 3: How to Assemble
Start by making the football. Cut simple white strips to be the laces of the football. Glue onto the football.
Now, make the pop up card. If this part seems a little tricky, check out my Football Pop up Card Video with step-by-step instructions.
Get your piece of green paper and fold it in half. Use scissors to cut two slits in the middle of the folded side of the card. They should be about one inch apart from each other and 2 inches in length.
Next, grab the tab you made by cutting the paper and fold it down. Then, open the card and pull the tab through to the inside of the card. Finally, carefully close your card and press along the creases. When you re-open the card, the tab should be standing upright which makes the pop out for the football.
Now, just add all the details. Glue the yellow goal post onto the background of the opened card and glue the football to the center of the pop out section inside the card. Tip: make sure to glue ABOVE all of the folded creases so that the card opens and closes easily.
And you’re done!!
Personalize and sign the card and it’s ready for Dad!
This is a great craft for Father’s Day, perfect for school, Scouts or just a fun craft at home idea.
