The Candy Cane Story
According to lots of difference sources (like “Christmas Legends to Remember” and “Stories Behind the Great Traditions of Christmas”) the candy cane was invented in 1670. A choirmaster at a cathedral in Germany wanted help quite the children in his church. So, he asked a local candymaker to create a sweet hard candy for the children to use during mass. The choirmaster, wanted them to look like a shepherd’s hook to represent the shepherds who visited baby Jesus. He also wanted them to be white and red to teach children about Jesus and his sinless life and his sacrifice. You can read more at wikipedia.org
