Step 1: Get the printable
Download the Free Heart Message Stick Printable. In the next step, learn how to quickly cut out as many shapes as you need.

Step 2: Fold paper and cut to make message pocket
The hearts on the message stick are two-sided so they make a pocket for the message.
To make multiple hearts at a time, fold about 4 sheets of paper in half lengthwise and put them inside each other.
Then fold the printed template lengthwise as well and add all other sheets inside:

Cut out the hearts on the solid line. Do not cut the fold:

Continue cutting until you have enough hearts.

FYI: when the kids make the craft, they will glue the bottom edge of the heart to create a pocket for the message.

Step 3: Print and cut message template on color paper
Print the message (smaller) heart template onto colored paper. Then, staple the template onto up to 10 sheets of copy paper, 5 sheets of cardstock or 5 sheets of construction paper.

That’s my SECRET to fast & easy group crafting. Did you know, you can staple together 10 pieces of copy paper and cut out 10 hearts at a time?!
Stapling the paper is very important because it makes sure it doesn’t move as you cut. The more staples the better.
Tip: While you’re cutting, if you’ve cut off all parts of the pages that have staples, make sure to staple the sheets that are left. Whenever you’re cutting multiple sheets at a time, make sure they are always stapled together!
Step 4: How to Assemble
The kids will just need to put it all together!
I recommend having a heart message stick craft that is already put together so the children can see what the final version will look like.

- glue the bottom of the double heart together to make a pocket
- decorate the heart pocket
- write a message or draw a picture on the smaller heart
- put the message inside the heart pocket
- tape or glue the popsicle stick to the back of the heart
- don’t forget to write your name on the back

And you’re finished!
This heart message stick craft is perfect for a Valentine’s Day, classroom, girl scouts, boy scouts or just a fun Valentine’s Day party idea.
As always, I try to make the classroom and party crafts: Fast, Easy & Inexpensive. Enjoy!
