It’s that time of year again, and I’m sure you’re looking for some First Day of School Activities for your Kindergarteners and Preschoolers. Your little ones are so excited to be starting school, making new friends, meeting their teachers, and learning new things. Start the school year off with these fun measurements!

Here’s What You Need
Here’s your handprint craft supply list (This post contains affiliate links to the products mentioned. Read my disclosure policy for more information):
- Free Printable Handprint and Footprint Template<— Get it Here!
- copy paper and color printer
- washable tempra paint in fun colors
- sponge paintbrush
- baby wipes (optional for cleanup)
Step #1: Get The Free Printable Handprint and Footprint PDF
The Free PDF includes the spaces for a footprint, handprint and other measurements including: Name, Date, Height, Foot length and hand span.

Step #2: Paint your child’s hand & foot
Use the sponge brush to paint your child’s hand and foot. Tip: It’s easier to do the hand first! Remember to have some water or wipes nearby in case things get messy!

Step #3: Press your child’s hand onto the handprint template
Make sure to lay the template on a flat surface and help your child press their hand onto the paper. Here’s the secret to getting a good handprint – Lift your child’s hand, straight up – this way fingers aren’t moving or sliding. Repeat the process with their foot.
And you’re finished!
This is a great back to school craft or just for fun. But, I specifically did not include the words “First Day of School” because we all know how stressful it can be to get things done on the first day!
Use this craft any time of year! It’s also great for Preschool and Kindergarten Graduation
