While your children are coloring it’s a great time to talk to them about what New Years’ is all about. You might want to explain what a resolution is, or talk about setting goals for next year. It’s also fun to talk about the calendar and traditions.

This party scene had me laughing. Are those grown-ups drinking champagne or little ones with apple juice? You can talk to your kids about what a toast is and why we celebrate the start of the year. I’m sure your little ones can come up with an elaborate story to go along with this simple picture.

Does New Year happen in the daytime or night-time? You can also talk about digital clocks versus traditional clocks. It’s even fun to talk about all of the numbers on a clock.

Did you know cities drop all sorts of things to celebrate New Year? Of course, New York drops a crystal ball. But others cities have been known to drop, a Lego Brick, a rose, a Pickle, and even a stuffed Beaver. Read more on Wikipedia.org.

This page shows a child blowing a horn. When I was little we used to go outside and bang pots and pans with a wooden spoon. I thought it was so silly and of course so much fun.
