Make this Independence Day Craft while reading these Fun Patriotic Books:
Step 1: Get the Heart Craft Printable
Download the Free Flag Heart Printable. You will be stapling the templates to sheets of colored paper and cutting out shapes up to 10 at a time.

Step 2: Staple and Cut Out the Flag Heart Shapes
For each flag you will need:
- 1 red heart
- 1 blue semi-circle
- 3 white stars
- 4 white stripes

Once you have the print outs, staple them to up to 10 sheets of copy paper, 5 sheets of cardstock or 5-8 sheets of construction paper.
So, did you know, you can staple together 10 pieces of copy paper and cut out 10 shapes at a time?! That’s my SECRET to fast & easy crafting. Stapling the paper is very important because it makes sure it doesn’t move as you cut. The more staples the better. Cardstock is the thickest so you may only be able to cut 5 sheets at a time.
Tip: While you’re cutting, if you’ve cut off all parts of the pages that have staples, make sure to re-staple the sheets that are left. Whenever you’re cutting multiple sheets at a time, make sure they are always stapled together!
Also, it might be easier to cut the white strips a little longer than the heart. Then you can trim them after the children glue them to the red heart.

Step 3: How to Assemble
The kids will just need to glue it all together!

- Start with the red heart.
- Glue the blue semi-circle to the top left portion of the heart.
- Glue the white stars onto the blue semi-circle.
- Glue on the white stripes (this can be a little tricky, rotate the stripes until they fit best).
- Don’t forget to write your name on the back.
And you’re finished!
It took me about 10 minutes to have the supplies for 20 kids. How amazing is that?!
Now you’re ready to take your American Flag craft to your event. This would be a great craft for Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Veterans Day, preschool, elementary, Scouts or just a fun school party idea.
