Make this Independence Day Craft while reading these Fun Patriotic Books:

Step 1: Download and Print the Free American Flag Craft Template

Download the American Flag Craft Template. You will be stapling the templates to sheets of colored paper and cutting out shapes up to 10 at a time.

Step 2: Staple and Cut Out the Easy Flag Craft Shapes

For each flag you will need:

  • 6 stars
  • 3 long red strips
  • 3 short red strips for each

print template and staple to multiple sheets of paper before cutting

Once you have the print outs, staple them to up to 10 sheets of copy paper, 5 sheets of cardstock or 5-8 sheets of construction paper.

Did you know, you can staple together 10 pieces of copy paper and cut out 10 shapes at a time?! That’s my SECRET to fast & easy crafting.

Stapling the paper is very important because it makes sure it doesn’t move as you cut. The more staples the better. Cardstock is the thickest so you may only be able to cut 5 sheets at a time.

Tip: While you’re cutting, if you’ve cut off all parts of the pages that have staples, make sure to re-staple the sheets that are left.

Whenever you’re cutting multiple sheets at a time, make sure they are always stapled together!

Pieces needed for each flag: 1 sheet of white paper, 1 blue square, 6 white stars, 3 long red strips, 3 short red strips

Step 3: How to Assemble

The kids will have so much fun with this stars and stripes craft!

I recommend having a flag that is already put together so the children can see what the final version will look like.

  1. Glue the blue rectangle onto white paper.
  2. Glue the white stars onto the blue rectangle.
  3. Glue on the red stripes.
  4. Make sure to have the kids write their name on the back!

And you’re finished!

It took me about 10 minutes to have the supplies for 20 kids. How amazing is that?!

This flag craft is perfect for Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Veterans Day, preschool, elementary school, Scouts or just a fun craft at home idea.

      1. Hi,
I just sent you a message. The way the website works is that it sends every activity via email. So you should have received an email with the link to the template. Even then, sometimes the emails get blocked altogether or sent to SPAM or PROMOTIONS folders. If you can’t find the email in one of those folders, just email me at Jeannie@craftingjeannie.com
        Have a great day,
        Jeannie
